I would say that any of the 1911 full size are well made . Depending upon what you desire and how much you are willing to spend.
The older WW II 1911A1 were well made and will take almost any ammo.
The newer models, brown, Baer, kimber STI etc are very well made expensive but delivery excellent results, but the can be temperamental with ammo.

I like my Remington Rand for the history, but prefer the m45a1 best.

Hi all. Only have two 1911s and both are my favorite. Colt/Rem UMC/SA 1915-17 that I got from my Dad almost 50 years ago. Outstanding weapon, shoots great and straight. Generally put one brand of ammo through it but never a problem, even shot a few rounds of 1944 mil-surp through it a few months ago. Then my newly acquired RIA 1911A1 FS Tac. Just got it the beginning of the year but have loved shooting it. It exposes my skill(or lack of) and is a great shooter. Have put about 200 rounds through it and not one problem. A few Tula, some Brown Bear, Winchester, and Remmington. All 230gr FMJ so far but want to make this a home def. weapon so will start putting some JHP soon. I've also heard that the Shooters Arms 1911s are nice shooters and have a great price point. Could be a nice entry level 1911.
