Since yesterday I'm the proud owner of a Rockola M1 carbine. Its serialnumber is in the 4618XXX range. I think I got an awesome deal on it. I stripped it and everything (including the wood) seems to be original/correct as the carbine should have left the Rockola factory. I used the 7th edition of Craig Riesch his book as a reference. Apparently this gun never left Belgium after the war. I got it at a local gunshop. They got it from some older guy who passed away. Only flaws in my opinion: it's missing an IR-marked oiler, has no sling and it has some proofmarkings from the testfacility in Liège, Belgium. Oh, and it has an IA marked magazine... I'll try to add some more pics.

I agree! It's a beauty. We have a few other European members that have found gems left behind after WWII. Also, one of the best suppliers of genuine, reasonably priced carbine parts is in France. Again, congratulations!

Nice Rock-ola of course. It shows how highwood stocks were used well into 1944 by companies other than Rock-ola too. BTW, the oiler should be an IS more than likely. Individually marked oilers were phased out before this carbine would have been made, but get one that makes it happy since it's your carbine.

Thanks guys. You'll probably won't believe I only paid 550 euro for this one. That's about 605 US dollar at today's rate... I really feel like I hit a very lucky strike.

You're probably right about the oiler. I have a spare "IS" oiler lying around, so that's one problem less to worry about!

Very nice weapon, I'm a fan this kind of guns and also live in Belgium and planned to buy me a Carbine M1 too.
Do you live in the Flemish or the Wallon part of Belgium?
Regards,
Geert
