I have a 6.97 million Inland that is a handstamped M1. Which is the more "correct" low wood, oval cut stock: Type 3 or Type 4 (with the long channel and M2 cut out)?

Either could be considered to be correct, but the type 3 would be most likely original since the M2 stock would likely have been reserved for the M2 carbines. Actually there was a hybrid that was also used; an Type 3 with a removed bridge and a selector switch cutout. It was used only for a short period since it was found to be too fragile for full auto fire.
