It has been suggested that they may have used some AI marked bolts from Inland but evidence is lacking on this. If they did it would have been about the 4.4 million serial number range.

If NPM did use AI marked round bolts in the 4.4 million range that would mean they used them 6 months before Inland did, which is pretty a far fetched idea.

Are you saying that NPM used the 4.4 million range before they used the 4.0 range?

I'm confused. Is it likely a 4.0 million NPM would have a round bolt?

No, it would be a flat bolt. Keep in mind though parts switching on a NPM can be a frustrating experience due to their parts number system and the fact they did not go in sequential serial numbers. It takes some research to get it just right.
