If robust means haevier, the answer is yes. But handsome...Barney was THE MAN when it came to ladies going nuts over him. Something about him wearing civilian clothes drove them WILD!!! Just ask Thelma Lou

64. Vietnam draft was after me in 1966. I enlisted in the Air Force to avoid the draft. In basic training I was selected for a 'Secret Operation' and sent to Electronic technical school. Ended up a Nuclear Chemistry technician in a small laboratory on an Air Force base in California. Since it was a 'Secret Operation', we did not exist. ... no base C.S. details .

However, the work was intense at times and I was involved in a radiologocal accident in 1970 ... I 'Glowed in the Dark'. Unfortunately since the laboratory did not exist, no medical report, treatment, or consideration was given me. I was watched to see if I got radiation sickness for three months, then discharged .

I used the G.I Bill to get a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District. It really was a great operation back in the 70's, but I'm happy to be retired .

I'll be 65 by the end of this year. USAF Jet Engine Mechanic on F-4 Phantoms 62-66. Lackland, Amarillo, MacDill, Miramar, Davis-Monthan. Now retired from GE Aircraft Engines where I tested gas turbine engines. I got to pull the trigger on the gun that shot chickens into the engine a few times. Probably the only guy on here that has shot that gun.
I'm new to collecting Carbines but have been shooting since I was about 8 years old.

comm pogue;

Welcome to this great Forum. Recognized your handle and signature from the other Forum. I've been absent for a while. Some health issues, and going to AZ has kept me off the computer. It's good to see some familiar faces, and more new ones also. A hearty welcome to all of you new members .

Regards.

Xdron, were you stationed at CCK while in Taiwan? I was US Army(1967-1970) and my only overseas duty post was Taiwan for 27 months. I was in the Signal Corp and worked up on Grass Mountain above Taipei. We talked to CCK down island a lot. Real fond memories of Taiwan and the Nationalists. Good allies and friends. I will never forgive Nixon and Kissinger for recognizing that Butcher Mao.

Oh, 64 years old. Another old fart.
