My Win. Ser# is 1154526. Is this a type I or II? Then what 15 rd. mag. is correct to the carbine. I thing the BW & IW with circle around it are correct? What about SW & UW? Or are these type II? The M1 family site reflects the BW with type 1 base only, the IW with circle Types 1,2 & 5, the SW type 2 or 5 and the UW mag. as a type 3 base only.

You can answer that question for yourself. Is it a spring tube type 1 carbine or is the recoil spring hole drilled into the receiver. A type 1 magazine would be correct for your Winchester but just about any made for Winchester would be correct. The military made enough magazines to last over 100 years. lol.

It has the early return spring tube and the push button safety. So I guess my question is are the BW & IW with the circle around it the only 2 really correct mags? Or are the SW & UW correct to this type 1 win. also? My understanding is the SW is a type 2 or 5 & the UW was a type 3. Thanks again for your input.

If the floor plate is flat then it is a type 1. Any with a letter and a W with a flat floor plate would be OK for Winchester.
