The carbine I bought last year has buckles on both ends of the sling. All others I see have a snap on the front end. Any guesses as to what sling I have? Thanks for any input.

Maybe built as a generic, or for another weapon and just happens to fit the carbine?

It may be for a Reising sub-gun. Very similar to a carbine sling but it is longer I think. Jimb would know for sure if it is or isn't.

No, the reising sling also has a snap, but the distance between the two parts is greater than that of the carbine sling. That nylon sling is a general purpose sling that could and often was used as a carbine replacement sling. Fairly common, but not carbine specific.

Our USGI M1 Carbines pretty much have either other types or after market carrying straps. Most are longer with no snaps. Just buckles.

Usually it was a matter of ease of strap removal. That snap lots of times made it hard to unthread the strap through the oiler space.

Also the longer straps seem to work better allowing the Carbine to be slung unloaded with chamber flag muzzle down across the lower back.
