Im new and still learning the world of Carbines, so Im curious how I did on these.

I picked up a group consisting of...
4 SEY marked 'hard back' 30 round magazines all in individual wrap
and
A wax paper block of 10 SY-B marked 15 round magazines
All for $400

I broke it down as $50/ea for the 30 rounders and $20/ea for the 15's, which I think is a decent price. Did I do ok?

Also, how good is the chance that the 'hardbacks' are reproductions?
Im still not 100% confidant in identifying all of the reproduction 'split back' variations, but from what Ive read it seems the 'hard backs' were not reproduced due to complexity of manufacture. Im I correct?

SEY marked magazines are more often faked then any others. Now the 15 round magazines are USGI for sure. Made for IBM. Excellent magazines. If you want good reliable magazines then look for the ones made in Korea. 15 round magazines are about $10 and the 30 rounds are about $15. Excellent magazines to use for shooting. Many places like AIM surplus have them for sale.

Tuna, I believe the faked SEY magazines are the second gen "split backs" as hard backs are too difficult to fake. Dupage has been selling SEY hardbacks the past few weeks NOS for $40, last batch popped up yesterday and was sold out in hours. With the 5,000 or so mostly NOS magazines Colin Williams, who was stationed in Germany, found 2 years ago the market is sort of flooded. He sold them around the average of $18-$22 so $20 is good. If the 10 pack he mentions is one block, wrapped in a either wax paper or green cosmo soaked gauze then they came from Colin. I just got the best deal, two dead perfect NOS Rock Ola mags sent to me for helping guide someone with carbine advice.
