New to me M1 carbine. NPM. 4.33 mil

Undated IBM barrel and other goodies. Mix of parts but she looks great to me. Only been able to take her out once so I'm dying to get some serious range time in. Need to play with the sight system and learn how she shoots at various ranges.

The NPM mag that it came with jams on the last round. Thinking weak spring. Any good places to pick up replacements on the cheap?

Hoping to shoot both the carbine and the garand in matches next season. Would be cool to place in the top locally with both. My first year shooting garand locally (2015) I ended up in the third place spot overall.

I'll have to look into what items affect accuracy with the carbine as It is a whole new game to me.

You have a typical rebuilt carbine just like 98% of them are. The commercial magazines made in Korea are excellent. New ones run about $10 for a 15 round one and $14 for a 30 round magazine. Accuracy with a carbine has to do with the way it fits into the recoil plate. A type 3 plate will hold the action above the stock so the barrel is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch above the barrel channel. This is correct for a carbine and the type 3 barrel band you already have helps with the accuracy too. These add to the accuracy of a carbine. Bedding the action or trying to tighten up the trigger housing do not work to help accuracy at all. The carbine was designed for 1 minute of bad guy out to 300 yards. It is not a target class weapon what so ever. But they are more then accurate for defense and fun to shoot.

Thanks for the info. Picked up some GI mags earlier. Now I need to test them all to see which I want to keep. Can not wait to get her back out to the range for a good shake down.
