Is it unusual to find an early spring tube Winchester receiver with no flip sight chisel marks? It has only a single adjustable sight stake mark on the right side. This is a mix master arsenal rebuild with the original barrel.

No not really. The sights didn't get staked in till some carbines later on had their sights move under recoil. If the flip sight was a tight fit then it was thought not to be needed.
