Looking to buy my first M1, and found one advertising inland barrel and CMP cert. What does the cert tell you other than it was bought form the CMP and does it add any value. I have e-mailed the seller to try and find out the manufacturer of the receiver. No rel deal, but the pics he sent me looks like a decent piece. Thanks
The CMP certificate establishes a chain of custody. You add the prior owners name to the back and you know how far removed from government ownership that particular carbine is. Does it add to the value? For some folks it makes a difference, but not for me.
