My uncle was in Army stationed at Fort Benning,Ga. He gave it to my father so I assume it came from the base. It has been in my family's home for as long as I can remember-I'm 66yrs old.
Hi jtpope,Just came across your pics of your underwood very nice gem that you have there.I love the underwood carbines.Happen to have a underwood but it is a arsenal rework underwood/postal meter mix. The reciever and barrel are underwood. what I wanted to mention that the serial # is within 12,000 from yours lower. Just wish that mine was collector grade like yours. It has all the upgrades that they do, but whats keeping me from restoring it is that the arsenal double stamped the serial# on the reciever.so If you remove the adjustable rear site you have the stake marks and the double number.Well nice talking to ya keep that gem in the family hiker12
