Now if you can, please provide the names (if possible). Such as: NL is National Lock, UN is Union Switch and Signal...... I am doing research on QUALITY carbines and I can't find a lot of info on the names. Appreciate anything that is available.

I have a 12 page War Dept. Memo copy dated 1944. I has all the contractor names and abbreviations for the M1 construction program. It does not break them down into categories for each prime contractor. Interested?

Is it the one found with Aitchinson's 2 page memo of 4 September, 1944? I've often wondered if the contractor's list was originally part of that memo. The list seems disconnected from the memo and I've never been convinced that it's official.

That is the one I have, but it has 8 pages of manufactures with codes.
Example; BO-Bobbins, Robert Co.
I don't think this is a complete list.

My copy has 2 Aitchinson memos, one dated 4 Sept. the other dated 5 Sept. It also has 9 additional pages, 8 with codes and a 9th page with an excerpt from Spec 52-0-13. No codes on that last page. I agree, it's not a complete list, but it's the best I have.
