It isn't the UN Small Arms Treaty that had anything to do with importation of Carbines.

It was simply a policy for the ATF mandated by the Obama administration:

Gun shows have had stacks of carbine stocks on the counters. Looks like metals are being scrapped and the wood is being allowed in. Sad. Every empty stock was probably a complete gun ready for return until....

There was just a sale of carbines by CMP a week ago. Heard they only had 75 for mail orders and another 30 per location to sell across the counter. I put an order in for one but apparently my order arrived on the second day and they ran out the first day :(

I am on the CMP email list. On Jan 28th. I received an email saying they would be accepting mail in orders for a limited number of M1 carbines, beginning on Monday, Feb 1st. I printed the forms, filled them out, copied all other info required, and mailed the application off to Aniston, AL.(Cost 23.00 for guaranteed delivery on Feb. 1st)
On Feb 25th my credit card was charged to correct amount for a field grade M1 Carbine. Have not received it yet nor have I received any communications from CMP.
Do not know how they ship, but will be watching for a postal, fedex, or ups truck in my neighborhood next week.

Look for a big white FedEx truck. So let us know what you do get. The amount of carbines was reported as being 1000 for mail order which was sold out the first day. 30+ in each store which didn't last long and that they have another 1000 coming in that are spoken for by the original mail orders that were not filled in the first 1000.

I doubt that we'll see any more M1 Carbines coming in from Korea. Thus I am left with only one viable choice...

Offer me an appropriate explanation as to why I should wish to look at those photos and, as a result, punish myself?

Obviously you don't understand. I have to wait until this time next year to order any Carbine of any kind. If I look at Carbine porn, I'll just feel depraved, a mean deprived! (A Freudian slip)?

The wait is horrid.

Just use simple restraint; Look at something else that interest you, but does not make you feel depraved!

I fail to envision the time when the CMP will import any more M1 Carbines. It is time to go to a quality Commercial rebuilder/manufacturer (Fulton Armory/James River Armory). That seems the sole remaining option for my 2017 purchase.

Such is life.

CMP doesn't import anything. The carbines are owned by the US military and are on loan to foreign nations. These firearms are returned to the military by those nations then are "surplused" to the CMP.

And.....

CMP is still auctioning off a few selected carbines.

The prices are up there, but for those who are willing to pay the prices asked at James River, Fulton Armory, or even Auto Ordnance or Inland (yikes!) they should at least give CMP a good look.
