Hi Fellow Carbine fans :) Here is my current one.
1943 Underwood "Singer B" variant, With 1960's Springfield Armory replacement stock. The Carbine was obtained by a Law Enforcement Agency I was working for through a Govt program.(but was lawful for individual officers to buy theirs upon leaving the Dept.)

And with its friends...CMP 1943 M1 Springfield Armory that come back from Denmark, and 1943 No4MK1 Fazakery

Here are my 2 carbines. The lighter colored one of the two is my NOV '43 National Postal Meter and the darker is my Sep '43 CMP Inland.

Since I took these pics I swapped the safety on the Inland back to a push button and put on a "correct" mag catch as well.

The large-font, white-filled S/N marking on the stock comb (you can see the first part of it under the stock pouch, it matches the receiver S/N) is an Israeli Police marking. You can't see it in that picture, but there's also a rack number (10) on the butt of the pistol grip in an identical font (no white paint, however).

My six digit Inland in a repo M1A1 stock with M3 trench knife and bayonet, along with an S&W 1917.

Ser# on the Inland is 168XXX, Ser# on the 1917 is 885XX. The 1917 has all correct markings. The repo stock was worth the money and is a blast to shoot!!!!!!! Not as accurate as a full stock, but will hold 3" at 50yds. So she has become one of my "bump in the night" guns!!!

Well I got my IBM back from the smith today. Replaced the barrel band with an early version repro. Same with the flip sight. I hope no one cringes too hard, but I had it reparked. Now I just need to re finish the stock.

Idp4570;

That's a very nice looking Smith you have. My dad used to have a 1917 Mod. Colt. Man, was that thing big. I used to keep him loaded with the Auto Rim ammo. About five years ago though, someone took a liking to it and an early model Ruger .22 Auto pistol. Dad sure wanted to get his hands on someone bad, can't blame him, I had a commercial .45 ACP Colt Govt. Model stolen also.

Incidentlly, in the new issue of Guns&Ammo's SURPLUS Firearms magazine, there is an excellent article on the Mod. 1917 Smith & Wesson. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

Regards.
Stan

Dlee625;

Sir. I say, to each his own. The IBM belongs to you so therefore, you can do as you please, you're not out there to please other's. Not meaning to sound hard or stiff necked, but what you, or I, or anyone else does with their property is no concern of anyone else. And I might add, it looks very good.

Regards.
Stan
